Jodi Kahn, Neiman Marcus Fashion VP, on 13 Things She Would Buy Again

Need some shopping inspiration? In Lucky 13, fashion tastemakers share the 13 items they love so much, they'd hit "Add to Cart" twice. Jodi Kahn, luxury fashion VP at Neiman Marcus, has spring 2023 fashion trends on her mind when she dials in to our mid-November call for this column. Just the day before, she had actually presented her edit of next season's key moments to the company. Since Kahn attended more than 100 shows over the course of fashion month, I'm curious: What is she most excited about in fashion right now? "After the pandemic, I feel like everything [in fashion] was of an extreme scale. Now, I think we finally have moved on from the craze of getting 'back out'," she says. "In the upcoming spring collections, it's much more sophisticated and luxurious than it has been, and there's still emphasis on color. We feel really good about yellow and purple, and more of a neutral palette." This shift in the trend cycle just so happens to reflect what Kahn personally loves. In her 14 years at the luxury retailer, she says her style has evolved in an all-neutrals-everything direction. But she loves to dress up: Of every guest who's stopped by this column, she's the only one who's called a heel her everyday shoe. (And a Christian Louboutin heel at that.) As she summarizes, "I like to be sophisticated and refined, but a bit edgy." And occasionally, she'll dip into those memorable trend moments she sees from her front row seat. "PP Pink at Valentino was, to me, a piece of fashion history in the making. I felt like I had to have a piece of that collection," she explains. But when it comes to the pieces ahead that she'll go back to most, from her statement rings to a genius coffee maker, she's going to keep it in neutral.
