Nia DaCosta is helming the Captain Marvel sequel. Here's what to know. Captain Marvel will be flying back into theaters with a sequel next year. While Brie Larson will reprise her role as Carol Danvers, she won't be the only superpowered woman on-screen; she'll team up with two new characters—notably, both women of color—Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau. The director, Nia DaCosta, will also make history as the first Black woman to helm a Marvel film.
