Sam Asghari Talks New Married Life With Britney Spears

Life is good for newlyweds Sam Asghari and Britney Spears. In a new interview, the personal trainer and actor said their intimate wedding was "a fairy tale" and marriage has been "surreal." "She's amazing, she's doing great," Asghari told Good Morning America of Spears, joking that, "The husband thing hasn't hit me yet." The pair's wedding took place on June 9 at their Los Angeles home. The intimate ceremony was attended by about 60 guests, including their celebrity friends, such as Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, Donatella Versace, and others. As the singer previously confirmed, she walked down the aisle in a custom Versace off-the-shoulder gown with a high leg slit and a sweeping, dramatic train. Meanwhile, Asghari opted for a classic black tux, also by Versace. Asghari proposed to Spears in September 2021, and he told GMA that it was a long time coming, as they began dating in 2016 after meeting on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video. At the time, however, Spears was still under a conservatorship, which was handled by her estranged father, Jamie Spears, and was unable to get married. The conservatorship, established in 2008, was terminated in November 2021. "It was way overdue for us," Asghari said of him and Spears getting married. "We imagined this thing being a fairytale, and it was. And we wanted to celebrate with, you know, our loved ones, our close people. We wanted to just celebrate, and that's what we did." Now, the two are looking forward to their futures together. Though they sadly experienced a miscarriage last month, Asghari has said they remain hopeful that they will welcome a child together very soon. And while Spears is taking a break from the entertainment spotlight, Asghari is just getting started. The up-and-coming actor is starring in the film Hot Seat, in which he plays a SWAT team officer alongside alongside Hollywood greats Shannen Doherty, Kevin Dillon, and Mel Gibson. The movie hits theaters July 1. "...my wife gave me like this amazing platform to work with. So I'm always appreciative of that. And I'm always so grateful for that," Asghari said of how being with Spears launched him into fame. "I don't take any opportunity that I have for granted, and I really try to stay positive with everything that's happening." "Just being in a relationship with someone that has achieved so much, so many great things and at such a young age kinda gives me the understanding and teaches me so much for the little things I'm gonna achieve or the big things," he added. Though Spears is understandably tired of the Hollywood life—and has even said she might be done with music for good—she is her husband's biggest fan and supporter. "She kinda says, 'Go. Go get it," he said. "She loves the fact that I'm working, and she loves the fact that I wanna create a legacy for me, for our future family. I wanna be able to make my children or my future children happy. And they'll be like, 'Oh, that's my dad. I wanna be like my dad,' you know?" "At the end of my life I wanna be able to have a great career," Asghari added. "But more importantly, I want people to look up to me—my loved ones, my children, my wife."
