Lizzo Is Queen of the Red Carpet in a Flamboyant Feathered Gown

Lizzo put on the ultimate fashion show while walking the red carpet at the 2022 BET Awards. For the occasion, the "Truth Hurts" singer stepped out in a shimmering, navy blue Lurex gown, custom made by Gucci. With its deep neckline, flared sleeves, draped waist, and dramatic black feather trim, the dress epitomized true red-carpet flamboyance. She let the piece do most of the talking, accessorizing sparingly with black leather high-heel platform sandals and diamond drop earrings. Lizzo opened the ceremony by performing her hit single "About Damn Time." To take the stage, she changed out of her Gucci gown and into a '70s-esque set that featured a golden disco ball pattern and bell-bottoms. She also wore large gold hoop earrings and styled her glam (including golden eye shadow and a metallic manicure) to match. After her performance, Lizzo joined the audience with another outfit change, this time opting for a glittering, body-hugging gown. The dress included abstract yellow, pink, and purple wavy sequined strips in between black mesh paneling. Earlier this year, Lizzo opened up to BAZAAR.com about getting into fashion and launching Yitty, her new shapewear brand. "I started to have fun with the shape of my body. And now that I actually enjoy my body, there's nothing to hide," she said. "I was like, I wanna create a product that, even if you see it, it's not shameful. It's not embarrassing. It's actually sexy and liberating and you could take your shirt off and be like, 'Yeah, I gotta bright ass blue bra or shaping bra or whatever underneath my shirt.' And even if you wanna go to the club, you could take your work clothes off and you got a whole fit underneath."
