Prince George Hosted a Bake Sale During Lockdown to Support Dad Prince William's Charity

Prince George is following in his father's footsteps. During lockdown in England, the young prince held a bake sale to help raise money for Tusk, an organization that focuses on conservation in Africa. "Prince George very sweetly did a little cake sale to raise money for Tusk during lockdown and wrote a very sweet card about it, clearly demonstrating his concern for Africa’s wildlife," Charlie Mayhew, Tusk's chief executive, recently revealed to The Independent. Prince William has been Tusk's royal patron since 2005, and has recently dedicated his royal attentions to issues of environmentalism and conservation—including launching the Earthshot Prize in 2020, dedicated to finding 50 solutions to the world’s biggest environmental challenges in a decade. The Duke of Cambridge has often spoken about his concern for conservation in relation to his three children. During lockdown in 2020, William told SkyNews, "Having watched so many David Attenborough documentaries recently with my children, they absolutely love them, the most recent one—the extinction one—actually George and I had to turn it off, we got so sad about it halfway through. He said to me, 'You know, I don't want to watch this anymore.'" William continued, "Why has it come to this? You know, he's 7 years old and he's asking me these questions already, he really feels it, and I think every 7-year-old out there can relate to that. So, I really feel from an emotional point of view as well I think every parent, everyone wants to do the best for their children, and I think we have to have a decade of change, a decade of repairing the planet so that we can hand it on to the next generation and future generations and sustain the prosperity for their lives too." Similarly, when the Cambridge children asked David Attenborough questions in an adorable video, George had extinction on his mind. The prince asked, "Hello David Attenborough, what animal do you think will become extinct next?" Attenborough tried to reassure him by saying, "Let's hope there won't be any!" Clearly, William has passed his concern for environmental issues down to his eldest son. And though Mayhew and Tusk did not reveal how much Prince George's bake sale raised, it's always the thought that matters.
