Kate Middleton Is the Epitome of Spring in a Lavender Chiffon Midi Dress

Prince William and Duchess Kate are spending the day in Cambridgeshire to highlight the work of key charities in the region. For their first stop, the couple visited the University of Cambridge's Fitzwilliam Museum, where they viewed a new painted portrait of themselves as it was unveiled to the public for the first time. For the appearance, Kate wore a chiffon midi dress from British luxury brand LK Bennett. The piece featured an abstract lavender and orange print, aptly fitting the artistic theme of the visit. She paired the dress with a long baby blue coat, plus dusty-blue pumps and a clutch from Emmy London. Meanwhile, William coordinated in a dark blue suit, which he wore over a light blue button-up. The Cambridgeshire Royal Portrait funded commissioned award-winning artist Jamie Coreth to complete the piece last year. After the viewing, the royals met with Coreth and Lady Sibyl Marshall, the wife of the late Sir Michael Marshall who put forth the original proposal for the painting. "It has been the most extraordinary privilege of my life to be chosen to paint this picture," Coreth said in a statement. "I wanted to show Their Royal Highnesses in a manner where they appeared both relaxed and approachable, as well as elegant and dignified. As it is the first portrait to depict them together, and specifically during their time as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I wanted the image to evoke a feeling of balance between their public and private lives. The piece was commissioned as a gift for the people of Cambridgeshire, and I hope they will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating it." Following their museum visit, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet with families, staff, and volunteers at East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) in Milton, of which Kate has been patron of for the past 10 years.
