Britney Spears announced Saturday that she has lost her "miracle baby" early in her pregnancy, sharing the news in a shared post with her fiancé Sam Asghari. The post includes a graphic of the couple's personal statement, signed "Sam & Britney."
The message reads, "It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along. However we were overly excited to share the good news."
"Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment," the statement ends,
"We are grateful for what we have in the process of expanding our beautiful family 💝 Thank you for your support," reads the caption.

The "Stronger" singer first revealed that she was expecting her first child with Asghari five weeks ago on Instagram, and followed up her initial post with a video showing off her baby bump. Asghari also shared an emotional post about the news, sharing a photo of an illustration of a lion and lioness with their cub, with a nod to his nickname for Spears, "lioness."
Spears is also mom to sons Sean and Jayden Federline, whom she shares with ex Kevin Federline. She and Asghari became engaged last September, and have been planning their wedding.
