The Pentagon confirmed that NASAMS is not yet in Ukraine and…

The Pentagon has officially put all the dots over the ‘i’ in the matter of Ukraine receiving the NASAMS air defense system NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems, the transfer of which was erroneously reported due to incorrect simultaneous translation of the words of the President of Ukraine during his interview with the American CBS, are not yet in Ukraine. This was officially announced by Pentagon press secretary Brigadier General Pat Ryder during a media briefing. Approximate terms of its transfer were also named. ‘At this stage, the US has not provided NASAMS to Ukraine. We expect that the first two will be delivered within the next two months, or close to that,’ the Pentagon spokesman said. He also clarified that we are talking about the first batch of two air defense systems, the transfer of which was announced at the end of June. Regarding the batch of six NASAMS that were part of the record $3 billion aid package on August 24, there are no exact transfer dates yet, but it will be a ‘longer term.’ Taking into account the available information regarding the terms of execution of the contracts, it will be a phased transfer of air defense systems over the next two years. Pat Ryder also confirmed that all NASAMS are built from ‘scratch’ and not transferred from any country’s armed forces. Additional data regarding the configuration of the complex, namely, the number of launchers and the presence of additional guidance devices, in addition to radar, as well as the types of missiles (AIM-120 or AMRAAM-ER), on which the range and altitude of the complex depend – there is no information.
