Poland proposes to include an embargo on russian gas in the 7th package of EU

Immediately after the approval of the sixth package, the European Union began work on the seventh package of sanctions against russia due to its invasion of Ukraine. After the first day of the EU leaders' summit in Brussels, an oil embargo was agreed upon, but officials and diplomats said it would be harder to stop EU purchases of russian natural gas. Contrary to the statement of Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer that the gas embargo will not be an issue in the next package of sanctions, Poland proposes to include in the seventh package of sanctions a full embargo on energy from russia, including russian gas.
