More Than 50% of Ukrainians Lost Their Jobs Because of the War – Survey

Only about 2% of our citizens managed to find a new employment. After February 24th, when Russia started the full-scale war against Ukraine, 53% of employed Ukrainian have lost their jobs, according to the nation-wide survey conducted by Rating Group on March 19th. Thus, 22% of respondents continue to work as usual, 21% are part-time employed or work remotely, and only 2% managed to find a new job. “This is a clear indication of not only economical, but also social and psychological issue. The job is not only about financial wellbeing, it’s also about usual lifestyle, social interactions, structured daily routine – everything, which keeps us stable and confident, reliefs anxiety and improves our self-esteem”, the survey report concludes. Significant part of our citizens have lost this support and most probably suffered from higher degree of alienation. The highest unemployment rates are observed among residents of the Eastern regions (74%), younger people below 35 years (60%) and those who were forced to leave their home towns and cities (6%). Only 18% of respondents answered that their economic status has not been affected by war, while 28% claimed moderate deterioration and 52% claimed significant deterioration. According to survey results, 40% of Ukrainians believe that their accumulated savings will be enough only for one month. The survey was conducted among the Ukrainian residents aged 18 or older in all regions, excluding temporarily occupied Crimea and Donbas. Read also:
