Ukrainian Zharkova wins gold at Freediving World Championship in Limassol in CWT discipline
The championship program includes four disciplines. On the final day of women's competitions, athletes competed for medals in CWT — a discipline in which freedivers descend and ascend using constant weight without dropping ballast.
In the final women's CWT start, Zsófia Törőcsik of Hungary announced a dive to 115 meters. However, the athlete completed an early turn at a depth of 108 meters, incurring penalty points.
Zharkova performed next: the Ukrainian announced a dive to 113 meters and reached the depth, finishing the attempt without penalty points. Zharkova recorded the best women's result in this discipline at the championship.
French diver Jade Agboton secured the silver medal with a 101-meter dive, while Hungary's Törőcsik claimed bronze.
