Over half of Russia's refining capacity knocked out: Ukraine's defense ministry assesses impact of Ukrainian long-range strikes
According to Khmara, intelligence services and analysts from both the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense assessed the consequences of recent long-range strikes by Ukraine's Security and Defense Forces.
The Ministry of Defense recalled that Ukrainian forces recently struck the Moscow, Yaroslavl, Perm, Ilsky, Saratov, and Syzran oil refineries.
Strikes also targeted Kirishinefteorgsintez and the oil refinery in Ust-Luga.
The ministry notes that the consequences of Ukrainian operations are not always immediately visible, but their cumulative effect ultimately hits hard.
The Ministry of Defense highlights that developing long-range strike drones remains a top priority, allowing forces to hit targets deep inside Russian territory.
Background
This year, Ukraine tripled its production and procurement of these UAVs, with plans to further scale up its deep-strike capabilities.
Between January and September 2026, Ukraine's Defense Forces neutralized 326,900 Russian troops. September recorded the highest monthly tally, with 46,230 casualties.
As previously reported, US leader Donald Trump stated that during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, he asked him to scale back the pace of strikes on Russian oil refineries.
