Ukraine's defense minister discusses support for Ukraine and countering Russian threats with US senators
Yevhenii Khmara thanked the United States for its critically important support for Ukraine, particularly assistance in supplying critical weapons through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) and JUMPSTART mechanisms.
He also briefed the senators in detail on the battlefield situation and threats from Russia, noting that the enemy is intensifying strikes on civilian infrastructure, increasing production of ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones, and attacking vessels involved in Ukrainian grain exports.
The defense minister emphasized that Russia can only be stopped through strength. To achieve this, it is important to continue supporting the Ukrainian Defense Forces and provide Ukraine with the means to protect people and destroy Russia's military capabilities.
The Ukrainian side provided a specific list of needs to counter Russia's aggression, particularly in the area of air defense.
The meeting also focused on the fact that Ukraine's experience can strengthen the United States and other allies. The Ukrainian side presented areas and projects that could help partners prepare for modern threats.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine thanked the United States for its support for Ukraine on the path toward a just and lasting peace.
