How much Ukraine spends on the war daily: spending approaches $200 million
Ukraine's daily military spending continues to rise rapidly. Learn about the main reasons
As of September 2026, one day of combat operations costs Ukraine $190 million. These figures were cited by Roksolana Pidlasa, chair of the Verkhovna Rada’s Budget Committee, during the “Yalta European Strategy” (YES) forum, according to LIGA.net.
The war is becoming increasingly expensive. By way of comparison: back in 2024, one day of combat operations cost $140 million, and today that figure has risen by $50 million.
As Pidlasa explained, this sharp increase is linked to inflation and a massive expansion of the army. The front lines require a huge amount of weapons, especially long-range ones, which are not cheap. Another significant expense is social spending. With each passing month, the number of families who have lost loved ones on the front lines grows, and they all need financial support from the state.

The daily financial burden has become so colossal that Ukraine can no longer cover its share of military expenditures on its own, as it was able to do previously.
The situation is worsening significantly due to falling revenues. In just the first eight months of this year, the state budget received $1.35 billion less than planned. Moreover, a quarter of this financial “shortfall” occurred in just one month—August.
The main reason for this funding shortfall lies in Russia’s targeted attacks on key sectors of the Ukrainian economy. The enemy is deliberately striking seaports, the grain corridor, and steel mills—which historically generate the country’s main revenues. As the politician noted, this is complex infrastructure, and it is simply impossible to quickly restore such enterprises after shelling.
Reminder! Russia has begun striking gas stations in Kyiv. Find out whether the market faces a shortage and a sharp spike in prices.
