United to win: Zelenskyi discusses air defense, PURL contributions, and peace process with partners in Yerevan

He continued: "We discussed in detail the reinforcement of air defense: the production of needed European systems and missiles, support for the PURL program, and ways to equip Europe with its own anti-ballistic capabilities."

Zelenskyi also thanked Canada for its new contribution to the PURL program. Just before the meeting, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced an additional 200 million US dollars for the initiative.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that deliveries of anti-ballistic missiles to Ukraine remain on track as agreed.

The Ukrainian president said the Washington Format talks also covered diplomatic efforts to end the war.

"Due to the situation in Iran, there is currently an obvious pause in negotiations. We discussed how to reactivate this process, how to contact the United States, and the role of Europe. We also talked about the situation at the front lines. It's very important that all our partners acknowledge Ukraine's much stronger positions now. I am grateful to our soldiers," Zelenskyi said.

He also expressed gratitude for the European support package amounting to 90 billion euros. According to Zelenskyi, these funds must begin arriving as soon as possible so Ukraine can implement resilience plans and prepare for the winter season.

Background

Zelenskyi arrived in Armenia the day before the summit. After a series of meetings and negotiations, he outlined three main goals for his visit:

The summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan is held under the slogan "Building the future: unity and stability in Europe."

Forty-eight heads of state and government are attending the summit. For the first time, a country from outside Europe — Canada, represented by Prime Minister Mark Carney — is participating in the forum.

It is worth mentioning that the UK government is beginning negotiations to join the large-scale EU program for Ukraine, worth 90 billion euros and including tens of billions for military needs. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce this during his address at the summit.
