The private space company SpaceX presented an accessory designed for convenient transportation of Starlink satellite Internet equipment. The backpack immediately catches the eye with its futuristic shapes and is essentially a zipped hard case with straps and top and side handles. It is suitable for moving the complete set for connection to Starlink – ‘dish’, router and cables.
The company believes that the backpack will be popular among those who often transport Starlink equipment, in particular those who live in mobile homes. Meanwhile, the network has already started joking that SpaceX can do business only on the sale of such backpacks because the price is a considerable 250 dollars.
However, it is worth remembering that this is not a backpack for 250 dollars, but a specialized protective case made in the form of a backpack, which significantly facilitates the transportation of equipment. Therefore, the price of the case is actually quite competitive, as analogues on the market will cost more.
For example, a more familiar protective case designed for transporting equipment, the Pelican 1610 Case, costs $310.
By the way, for lovers of hi-end solutions, there is a version of the Caseman 20911 Starlink Case, which has a special hole for attaching an antenna and installing equipment. Such a case will cost $409.
We will remind that earlier, SpaceX officially announced Starlink Maritime – high-speed Internet with low latency. The service is focused on marine vehicles. The cost of Starlink Maritime is $10,000, and a monthly subscription will cost $5,000. According to SpaceX, the data download speed will be provided at the level of up to 350 Mbit/s near the sea.
It is worth noting that the Maritime dish and equipment will be significantly different from home use counterparts. The device is a dual high-performance terminal capable of maintaining communication during a powerful storm at sea. Maritime also received additional protection against the effects of salt water and strong winds, and is able to withstand even a storm (at least that is what SpaceX claims).
