Poland is considering the possibility of a complete closure of the border with Ukraine, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that he was considering the possibility of completely closing the border with Ukraine in order to protect "Polish interests".

About it writes Gazeta.pl.

"We are the most pro-Ukrainian state and nation when it comes to our willingness to help, but we also have the biggest problems in Europe because of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The price of a free trade decision with Ukraine is too high, in terms of Polish interests. And it is not only about farmers," Donald Tusk said.

He assured that Polish government wants to help Ukraine, but cannot allow this assistance to have negative consequences for Polish citizens.

"We are talking with Ukrainian side about the complete closure of the border with Ukraine, but this will be a temporary solution," Tusk added.

It is noted that Polish farmers are protesting, demanding, first of all, to reject the EU Green Deal, which, in their opinion, will reduce the profitability of agricultural production. The second demand is to close the border with Ukraine to prevent cheap food and agricultural products from being imported into Polish market. Farmers also want the state to join the protection of livestock farming in the country.

Earlier "Apostrophe" reported that Poland may impose restrictions on imports of Ukrainian vegetables, sugar, rapeseed and oil.
