The EU will allocate €50 billion to Ukraine despite Hungary's position

At the February 1 Summit in Brussels, the leaders of the EU are planning to adopt an agreement on a €50bn aid package for Ukraine for 2024-2027, even despite a possible "blockage" by Hungary.

This, as Bloomberg writes, said the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.

According to him, the aid package for Kyiv will be formalized as an agreement with all 27 EU countries. But if there is no unanimity on this issue, the agreement will still be agreed through another working mechanism, that is, the allocation of funds in tranches.

We shall remind you that in December, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban vetoed the allocation of €50 billion to Ukraine as part of the EU's medium-term financing program. He explained that Budapest is ready to unblock the funds for Ukraine if the EU unfreezes the €30 billion allocated to Hungary.
