On May 4 it became known about the death of our colleague, journalist, and defender of Ukraine Oleksandr Makhov. He was originally from the Luhansk region, in 2022 from the editorial office of the TV channel “Dom” went to the front to defend Ukraine.
Oleksandr is a talented journalist, who decided during martial law and active hostilities to choose to defend his homeland on the battle lines with the Russian aggressor. Oleksandr kept in constant contact with our editorial board, and we at planning meetings, talking about the exploits and heroism of the Ukrainian military, regularly invariably imagined it was Oleksandr.
He is our hero, “military correspondent Makhov”, as he called himself during our first meetings, and until February 24, 2022, we tried to dissuade him from engaging in military journalism and switch to documentary publicism. But the essence of Sasha’s character became apparent in the very first days of the war: as always, he told the editorial office clearly, collected and with military self-restraint that he was leaving for the front.
