MLB Best Bets for Wednesday

We have a full slate across the majors on Wednesday that begins at 12 p.m. ET between the Brewers-Rays and wraps up with the White Sox-Angels at 9:30 p.m. ET. There are a ton of exciting matchups throughout the day that will provide numerous betting opportunities for casual baseball fans and bettors. We’ll break down why we like a couple of strikeout props in the Cubs-Reds, and Red Sox-Blue Jays games, along with a total bases prop that is too good to pass up between the Orioles and Mariners. (Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook) Alek Manoah over 5.5 strikeouts vs. Red Sox (-106). For our first best bet, we will attack Manoah’s strikeout prop, which is sitting at a favorable 5.5. Manoah has been one of the best starting pitchers in the majors this season with a 9-2 record, 2.05 ERA, and 79 Ks in 87.2 innings. The 24-year-old starter has gone over 5.5 strikeouts twice in his past five starts but had two other outings with at least five strikeouts. If that’s not convincing enough for you, Manoah will be facing the Red Sox for the second time this season. In his first meeting against Boston on Apr. 28, he recorded seven strikeouts and only allowed three hits in seven innings. He’s also averaging 5.8 strikeouts per game at home this season, which isn’t bad in seven starts. Look for Manoah to continue his dominance at home and complete the three-game sweep for the Blue Jays. Hunter Greene over 6.5 strikeouts vs. Cubs (+106). This is one of the riskier plays on tonight’s slate, but we know Greene has a chance to produce high strikeout performances every time he steps on the mound. The rookie pitcher has had his fair share of ups and downs this season, hence his 3-8 record and 5.66 ERA. However, when Greene is on his game and hitting his spots, he has moments where he’s unhittable. Greene has gone over 6.5 strikeouts in three out of his past five starts and just missed out on seven strikeouts against the Brewers on June 17. It will be Greene’s second time pitching against the Cubs this season. In his first start in May, Greene had six strikeouts in five innings as Cincinnati cruised to a 20-5 win. The Cubs are averaging 8.72 strikeouts per game this season and 10.67 strikeouts over their past three games. Cedric Mullins to record 2+ total bases vs. Mariners (-105). The 27-year-old outfielder has been hitting the ball well on the Orioles’ road trip. Mullins has recorded two or more hits in five out of his past six games. If you look at those numbers from the perspective of a total base bet, he’s had 11 total bases in his past six games. Mullins will be looking to bounce back from an 0-4 performance on Tuesday night when he goes up against Mariners starter Chris Flexen, who gives up his fair share of hits. Mullins is hitting .266 against right-handed pitchers this season and a sturdy .292 at the plate this month. If the O’s want to win today, they’ll need Mullins to get things going at the top of the order.
