Alessandro Michele is all about maximalism, and his latest collection for Gucci bit off about as much as a person can possibly chew. The Italian house’s collection was an ode to “cosmogonies,” or the theory related to how the universe started—you know, the little things. Looks were inspired by the stars, myths, and constellations. The beauty, of course, followed suit, and Gucci global makeup consultant Thomas de Kluyver wanted to inspire the same feeling of a mystical universe through makeup. “I wanted [to add] some magic and mystery to all of the different looks,” he told ELLE.com immediately after the show. “Everything had a little bit of sparkle and shine.”
