Ukrainian City of Sievierodonetsk Is Cut Off from Gas Supply: Mayor Gas Pipeline Was Damaged

The major gas pipeline in Sievierodonetsk, Luhansk Region, was damaged by Russian shells. Currently, the gas supply and other utilities in the city are completely shut down, according to Serhii Haidai, the Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration. According to him, on May 10th, a Russian artillery shell hit a major gas pipeline resulting in shutdown of gas supply to Sievierodonetsk. "The gas supply had been the only utility still available in the city. Although many household experienced significant disruptions, in the older districts the natural gas was still supplied to the residential apartments, so the people could at least cook some food or boil water. Now, the major gas pipeline is badly damaged and depressurized. The gas distribution stations have been shut down in order to avoid further damage of the network. The city is completely cut off from gas supply”, Haidai emphasized.
