Background

The Ukraine–Nordic and Baltic countries summit is taking place in Tallinn on June 9.

"I am pleased that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi will join us. Support for Ukraine is one of the main priorities of Estonia's NB8 presidency. We will discuss how to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities, increase pressure on Russia and make Europe as a whole safer," the Estonian prime minister said ahead of the summit.

In addition to Ukraine, the heads of government of the NB8 countries will focus on competitiveness, the development of artificial intelligence and regional security. Following the meeting, the prime ministers of the Nordic-Baltic Eight are expected to adopt a joint statement, as well as a declaration on deepening security and defense cooperation between the NB8 and Ukraine.

"The Nordic-Baltic Eight countries form one of the most integrated regions in Europe. We are united by shared values, close security cooperation and the ambition to be leaders in both innovation and defense technologies. In Tallinn, we will discuss how to take the next step to make our region even more competitive, secure and influential," Michal said.

As Rubryka reported, in February 2026, on the fourth anniversary of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Kyiv hosted the Ukraine–Nordic and Baltic countries summit.
