Russian Authorities Have Detained Turkish Fishing Boats off the Crimean Coast

Some 12 Turkish fishermen in two boats, who sailed from Istanbul to the Black Sea to fish turbots, have been detained by the Russian Navy bear the shore of annexed Crimea, CNN Turk reports. CNN Turk has confuted the Russia’s allegations that the boars were missing proper registration. According to CNN data, one vessel is registered in the port of Gemlik, and the other is registered in Sarier. Two fishing boats sailed to the Black Sea for their catch, setting off on May 15th. There were 12 fishermen on board of the boats. Fishermen hunted off the coast of Russian-occupied Crimea. On May 18th, the boats approached the peninsula. After that, a Russian warship intervened, and the fishermen were detained. Meanwhile, the fishermen called their relatives via satellite phone and informed them about the situation. The Turkish fishing boats were delivered to the outskirts of Sevastopol escorted by Russian warships. The Russian authorities reportedly confiscated fish and fined fishermen $30,000. Read also:
