From the first day of Russiaʼs full-scale war against Ukraine, Russian troops invaded Kherson Oblast and seized the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant to restore water supply to annexed Crimea. Until 2014, water was supplied to the peninsula through the North Crimean Canal, which is headquartered in the town of Tavriysk, Kherson Oblast. Journalist Oksana Kryvitska spoke with Tavriysk resident who managed to leave the city with her family.
