Pentagon Pays Lockheed $60 Million to Contain F-35 Costs

Lockheed Martin won a $60 million contract to complete the second phase of a “Blueprint for Affordability” process seeking ways to trim costs further down the supply chain for the F-35 aircraft. The Pentagon hopes the jet maker will start to sell F-35As for $80 million per unit by the early 2020s.
